How to Setup SUM3D to Manage 2 or more Roland DWX-50 Milling Machines
Sum3D will by default send the data directly to the machine that is connected to the computer. This machine is named “DWX-50” by default.
When you install or connect a 2nd DWX-50, that machine will be named differently. You can obtain the name of the 2nd machine by looking under the following location in the Control Panel:
Classic Control Panel:
Control Panel > Devices & Printers (Classic)
OR
Category Control Panel:
Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > View Devices & Printers
Once you are viewing the Devices and Printers, you will be able to locate the originally installed “Roland DWX-50” and the “Roland DWX-50 (Copy 1)”
This may vary based on how many DWX-50s you have connected to the PC – Maximum of 4
After installing a 2nd machine you will see the name of the machine show up in VPanel in a similar format except it will only have “DWX-50 (Copy 1)” in the name as shown in the image below.
You can create a secondary machine within SUM3D that will utilize the new name
Specifically for this sample the 2nd machine is named “DXW-50 (Copy 1)”
Given the name of the 2nd machine we will perform the following steps in SUM3D:
- Click on the Default Settings Button:
- Select the Tools Tab (See Image Below)
(This tab may also be named RolandDG - Depending on your installed version of SUM3D) - Click on Machines Archive
- Select the Roland DWX-50 from the Machine List and click on Change
- In the field “Machine Name” replace this with the desired name of the additional machine when being called out in the software. For simplicity, we’re going to name this machine the same as it is displayed in VPanel “DWX-50 (Copy 1)”.
- In the “Codes for Customization” Field, you’ll need to look for the following string:
START>"Roland DWX-50"
- Select the “Add in Archive” button.
- Select the “Exit without save” button.
Performing the above steps will add an additional machine with settings identical to the first machine that you created but leave the settings on the original machine intact.
You will now have 2 machines to choose from when creating a new job - when prompted at calculation the software will automatically stream the program to the correct machine.
We also suggest duplicating directories for the strategies and the holder and re-naming these to match the name that you specified in the “Machine Name” field back in Step 5. In this example: DWX-50 (Copy 1)
Under RolandDG\Dental\Strategies copy the folder called DWX50 & rename to DWX-50 (Copy 1)
Under RolandDG\Dental\Sup copy the folder called DWX50 & rename to DWX-50 (Copy 1)
This will ensure that the SUM3D pulls down all of the settings (strategy included) automatically.
