🛠️ Standard Feature Highlight: Designate Support Pins in Pre-Production

Available in v2019 and later

This feature allows you to predefine support pin locations directly on an .STL file before importing it into MillBox. It’s especially useful for:

  • Streamlining setup for repeatable or high-precision jobs
  • Ensuring consistent pin placement across multiple imports
  • Saving time during the nesting process

Once the part is imported, MillBox will automatically place the support pins in the exact areas you selected—eliminating the need for manual adjustments.

Available in v2020 and later

This feature allows you to select and process multiple projects simultaneously for bulk toolpath calculation—ideal for high-throughput environments.

Key benefits include:

  • Batch processing of multiple jobs in one go
  • Automatic use of default strategy options if prompts appear during calculation
  • Real-time calculation report displayed in the active window as each job completes

For machines with pallet (disc) changers:

  • The pallet code must be pre-set and linked to a material
  • If using a new disc, you can assign the pallet code during job setup and pause the calculation after setting the value

You’ll receive alerts when:

  • Seamless scanning using a webcam or barcode scanner

When a barcode is scanned, MillBox will:

  • Automatically import the corresponding blank, as long as it exists in the partially used stock library

This feature allows you to manually reduce the cavity axis angle, offering greater flexibility and control during nesting and milling.

It’s particularly useful in scenarios such as:

  • 🦷 Milling bridges on 4-axis machines by removing one of two cavity axes
  • 🛠️ Finishing cavities with short tools by minimizing the insertion angle
  • 🔄 Optimizing geometry: Each time the axis is adjusted, MillBox automatically recalculates offsets and undercuts to help you find the best possible result

This feature enhances visual feedback during nesting by rendering undercut areas where support pins are connected.

Key capabilities include:

  • 🔵 Blue shading is used to highlight undercut surfaces
  • 📐 Visualization is dynamic—if a support pin is placed above or below the equator, the affected areas are automatically shown
  • 👁️ Helps users identify and adjust pin placement to avoid milling issues or weak connections

This visual aid improves accuracy and confidence during setup, especially for complex geometries or delicate restorations.
