Article summary

This feature allows the user to change the Part Border of multiple selected restorations within a job. To select multiple parts, you can use Ctrl+Left click to select each restoration. When using this function instead of the pop-up window, the offset will be adjusted and the selected part/s will be automatically nested within the same disc.

Increasing this value fromt he default can add additional clearance for tools to cut for 5-Axis operations when an undercut is near the center of the part / disc. This can also provide extra clearance for tools to reach deeper into thicker discs. If you are going to lower this value below the default, you should make sure that you're leaving enough space for your roughing tool to clear around the part.

Example: If you were using a 2mm tool for roughing, you would typically want to have a part border with a minimum of 2.5mm:

  • 2mm to account for the diameter of the tool and an additional 0.5mm of clearance for proper material evacuation.

NOTE: You can also change the Part Border / Offset value by selecting your part and changing the value that appears in the pop-up window. When performing the function using the pop-up window, the part will not be automatically moved / re-nested within the disc, but the user will be prompted to do so:
