Attachment Designation (Offset Creation)

Attachment Designation.png

When working with a case that calls for a semi-precision attachment, Attachment Designation provides the user with a specialized option. Only the extra-coronal portion of the restoration is compatible with the Attachment Designation. There are various types of attachments that can be made within the CAD software. But, using this tool, we can make the space and curve required for the attachment to be milled in the material of your choice inside your milling machine. To properly align your finishing pass with the attachments, it is advised to Set a Secondary Finishing Axis after creating this offset with enough space (See video below for example).

When activated, MillBox will prompt you asking for the diameter of the offset you would like to open around the attachment where you click. This value in set in millimeters (mm), the default value is 5mm.

Once the offset size is set, the user will place a dot on flat surface of the attachment where they need to provide clearance for roughing / finishing tools.

Once the area is picked you will see an additional curve created to surround the attachment, this creates the attachment offset for milling purposes.
