Identify Interface
In certain cases, the Interface area(marked in cyan or orange) is wrongly identified after importing the STL, and this can lead to problems when calculating such as material left in the area, like the example below:
Step by Step
For these type of cases, the Identify feature allows the user to rearrange the Interface area through cylinders, making sure that only the geometry within the Interface is marked as such.
To make this process, first you
Select the Interface to be identified
After you selected the connection, a new window for you to
Create and Adjust the Cylinders
will be opened:
1 - Image Preview
A preview of the cylinder's current Interface identification area is shown here. You can see how it is currently identified, and as you adjust the cylinders, this preview will adjust as well, giving you more accuracy in determining whether the interface's region is appropriately defined.
2 - Capture List
You may choose which of the cylinders present in the process you wish to change from the list that appears. Everything inside of these cylinders will be captured as part of the interface, everything outside will be ignored.
3 - Add or Remove Layer / Cylinder
Here you can add / remove cylinders from the identification.
4 - Cylinder Height Adjustment
Adjust the selected cylinder height.
5 - Cylinder Diameter Adjustment
Adjust the selected cylinder diameter.
6 - Custom Strategy
Assign a custom strategy to the identified Interface.
7 - Switch the active Cylinder
Switch between cylinders - If there is only one cylinder in the list, this option will not be available
In this case, by only adjusting the cylinder height and diameter using the preview on the left side as reference I was able to correctly identify the Interface area, but if necessary you can create more cylinders with different diameters, to make sure that any other mesh not related to the connection will stay out of the cylinder area.
note: the identified Interface will be marked as yellow, identical as when doing the Replace process.
