What are Sintering Stabilizers for?
With the help of this feature, a bridge sintering stabilizer can be made, which helps to ensure that ceramics and some powdered metals shrink uniformly during the sintering process.
Warping during the sintering process is reduced when parts are anchored to the stabilizer. This tool's availability will change depending on the material (ie. zirconia) that is selected for nesting.
NOTE: The EDIT SIZE feature of the standard stabilizer gives you the flexibility to change the Central Area Height, Base Thickness, and Base Height. Other stabilizers can have their height and thickness changed because they lack a central area.
The part of the stabilizer that is impacted varies from one to another. Here is an example showing those settings.
Which type of Sintering Stabilizer is right for me?
- Classic / Standard
- Around (For Sinter-Metal)
- Windowed (Open for Nesting)
- Open (For Sinter-Metal)
- Full Material
- Custom
1. Classic / Standard
The Standard / Classic stabilizer analyzes your part to produce a framework that is appropriate given the size and mass of the object. You can still make adjustments to these numerical values and re-select the part to re-generate the stabilizer.
2. Around (For Sinter Metal)
3. Windowed
(Open for Nesting)
This Support allows the user to nest additional restorations inside of the existing stabilizer bar so there is less material wasted.
4. Open (For Sinter Metal)
This open winged stabilizer is popularly used for Sinter-Metal materials, but can also be used for Zirconia. to save on space taken up within the disc. The dimensions of the stabilizer can be adjusted using numerical values. For the height - any negative value below the number zero (0) will remove this amount of material from each side of the disc.
(ie: a value of -5 Height on a 24mm disc means that the support will be 4mm wide)
5. Full Material
This Stabilizer is left minimally machined near the supports to aid in even shrinkage while cutting down the time needed to rough out and machine the large stabilizer.
6. Custom Stabilizers
The Custom Stabilizer allows you to import your own custom stabilizer:
If you have not yet linked MillBox to directories containing custom stabilizers, you can do so under Tools / Configuration > Sintering Stabilizers
