 The Change Cavity Axis tool in MillBox allows you to fine-tune the cavity insertion direction to minimize or eliminate undercuts. It’s a powerful feature for optimizing toolpaths—especially when working with 4-axis machines or shorter tools.


What It Does

The Change Cavity Axis tool empowers you to optimize cavity machining with precise control over insertion angles:

  • Adjusts the cavity axis angle to reduce or eliminate undercuts for cleaner results.
  • Recalculates offsets and undercuts with each adjustment for real-time accuracy.
  • Optimizes toolpaths for 4-axis machines or shorter tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Allows removal of one of two cavity axes or angle reduction for smoother cavity finishing.

How to Use the Change Cavity Axis Tool

  1. Go to the Tools menu
  2. Select Curves and Surface Tools
  3. Click Change Cavity Axis
  4. Use the arrows above the cavity to adjust the angle or tilt
