Creating Zirconia Stabilizers within Millbox, easy as 1,2,3
Use of Stabilizers, in the creation of Zirconia bridge frameworks is very important, in order to help prevent the warping and shifting of the zirconia during the sintering process. Five stabilizers are now available inside our Millbox Cam software and can be activated quite easily in your workflow preparation. This will be clearly demonstrated in this article, as well as, showing clear pictures of our exisiting stabilizers for you to chose from.
Zirconia during high temperature sintering, with its expansion and contraction can detrimentally distort when shrinking its 25% size reduction. SUM3D/Millbox has created within its functionality 4 new stabilizer shapes for the milling of Zirconia material needing a support.
These stabilizers are broken down into Types 1- 5
Workflow preparation is quick and easy for Zirconia Stabilizer activation in your Millbox software
Standard New Job Setup
Please select new job, and pick your specific machine, material, clamping system, project and material puck size.
Adding a stabilizer from your selection in Millbox
Once your Zirconia framework or bridge have been imported and properly positioned in your stock. A stabilizer can been imported properly into the correct size stock material, by simply clicking on your stabilizer choice and then clicking on your restoration on the screen. Millbox then imports your choice next to your project for you to attach connection pins to. Millbox now has 5 stabilizer designs to chose from.
To access your stabilizer choices you will have to import your project successfully, position in the stock where you would like to and then, open the tool section of your Millbox desktop and chose the Sintering Stabilizer Icon. Here you will be able to chose one of the five choices present.
The Five Stabilizer Choices in Millbox for Zirconia bridge frameworks are as follow:
TYPE1: Classic/Standard
TYPE2: Around (For Sinter Metal)
TYPE3: Windowed
*This support allows the user to nest individual cases inside the stabilizer bar.
TYPE4: Open (For Sinter Metal)
TYPE5: Full Material
*This Stabilizer is left minimally machined near the supports to aid in even shrinkage while cutting down the time needed to machine the stabilizer.
Any one of the 5 Stabilizers to chose from may be adjusted in accordance to Height and Thickness. These measurements are in millimetres and based on the thickness of the bridge / framework in relation to the puck size.
In placing a stabilizer it is important to verify pin placement from your restoration to the stabilizer block, as well as, putting pins on the distal side of the stabilizer, which are thicker and larger to support the mass of the project. These will create support for the whole project, so that it doesn't come lose or fall out of the puck when milling.
Following the step by step process presented in this article, will allow you to gain success in properly supporting your Zirconia bridges / frameworks, using the stabilizer of your choice.
