Adjusting Abutment Interface Fit

Following the milling process, it's possible that the interface may exhibit a poor fit with the implant, showing a small gap or discrepancy. MillBox provides the capability to correct this slight gap without necessitating a change to the interface design.

  1. Select the object where you want to apply the correction
  2. Select the tool icon
  3. Select the Fit Abutment icon.


Once you select the Fit Abutment Icon, a new screen will be displayed:

Clicking inside the box for either Geometry Base Fit or Geometry Side fit allows you to change the implant fitting results.

Geometry Base Fit: will allow you to adjust parts in the Z Axis.
Geometry Side Fit: will allow you to adjust fit along X and Y axes.

NOTE: Negative Values are Surface Reductions (Removing additional material) resulting in a more loose fit. Positive values are Oversize and will result in a tighter fit.

  1. Current interface will allow you to select the interface you would like to edit.
  2. Apply Values only to the selected interface -
    Only applies the changes you are making to the interface you have selected.
  3. Apply Values to all interfaces of the select object -
    This will apply all the changes you have made to all interfaces on this object.
  4. You can also change the cylinder size for the thread passage
     (or the hole for the passage for the head of the screw)

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

  1. Once the values for any abutment fit procedure have been adjusted, we now need to make sure especially if the material is Zirconium that changes have been adapted. We will have to mill a new project due to the changes in the object dimensions, Zirconia, cannot just be modified.
  2. If you are milling Zirconium and have modified anything and have removed your disk from the fixing system. We will have to start a new project for the original positioning of the disk has been lost and will cause a discrepancy with the positioning of the object within the disk. We have lost our reference point.
  3. If by any chance we set the connectors to: cut or reduce the connector in any way, we will have to start a new project due to material being taken away and not allowing us to re-mill the project without jeopardizing the stability in the stock.

Generating toolpaths only for the Fit Adjustments that you've made

Once you've completed the calculation and presumably milled your part, you can assess its fit with a lab analog while the part is still on the machine. If you identify a fit issue, you have the option to make adjustments to the Interface Fit using the provided tools. After making adjustments, you can rerun the calculation to output only the necessary modifications to the interface. This convenient feature eliminates the need to re-mill the entire part to make small adjustments to the fit.

  1. Start Mill - Opens the options to start calculations
  2. Save toolpath - When you want to start the full Calculation
  3. Partial Execution -This will allow for just partial execution of the tool paths of the selected objects
  4. Re-Finish Internal Preps -This will do a second pass of only the internal cavity or connection tool path operation to the selected object.
  5. Prioritize Milling Order - This will allow you to select an object and create a new project with your milling options.

Partial Execution

This option allow you to select the tool path operations to do a second time.

When you are selecting operations in the resulting pop-up window, operations that are highlighted / selected in blue will be executed while the operations left un-selected will be skipped. Your initial click here will start the program from this point in the program. From this point, you can un-select specific operations, but you should do so with caution.

NOTE: If you skip certain operations, you could be potentially skipping necessary toolpaths, resulting in part or tool breakage. Make sure that you are sure about where you choose to resume the program for a subsequent run.


Re-Finish Internal Preps

This will do a second pass of the internal preparation tool path operations. For most parts this will be the intaglio surface.

Setting a default abutment fit for Replace

If there is a particular interface that consistently requires the abutment fit, you can set a default value for the fitting inside the preferences in the "abutment" section. By doing so, each time you execute a replace operation, the abutment fit will be automatically applied as the default setting. This streamlines the workflow by automating the application of the abutment fit for the specified interface.
