Article Summary

What are the Standard (Comfort) Features for?

MillBox comes in various different versions depending on where you obtained it. OEM are licenses that are sold and included with your milling machine and can come in either ECO (Locked Strategy) or Standard configurations. Please check with your software distributor to understand what type of license you have.

The Standard Features give you everything you need in a ready-to-go package, with unlimited access to all restoration types within MillBox. Crown & Bridge, Implants and removables, and much more! Choose from pre-existing material profiles to mill any indication. MillBox Standard is recommended for clinics and labs, and these features help you increase productivity and maximize your ROI.

Feature List:

Smart Support Pins

Requires v2017 or later

This feature allows you to select the Smart Support Pin option. When placed near the equator line, these pins automatically consider and morph to the contour of the equator line.

Designate Support Pins in Pre-Production

Requires v2019 or later

With this feature, you can select an .STL file and choose the locations of the support pins prior to importing. Once you import the part, the support pins will be automatically placed in the areas you pre-selected.

Multi-Project Toolpath Calculation

Requires v2020 or later

This feature allows you to select multiple projects for bulk processing / calculation. If you have strategy options that pop-up during calculation, the default pre-set options will be used and a calculation report of the jobs will be displayed in the active window as the calculation of toolpaths complete. For machines that utilize pallets (disc changers): the pallet code must be pre-set and associated to a material. If you’re using a new disc, you can also setup the pallet in the job, but stop the calculation after this value is set.

Queued Import of Restorations

Requires v2019 or later

MillBox can import up to 14 files at the same time. This can save a lot of chair time spent nesting. While files are being loaded in the background, MillBox’s interface remains unlocked so you can select additional files for import – even if they are different object types. This results in up to 80% faster loading times when importing files.

Intelligent Stock Management/Automatic Stock Selection

Requires v2018 or later

With this feature, you can navigate to a section showing a list of partially used discs. In this area, MillBox can automatically select / suggest items from available disks in your library.
MillBox analyzes existing materials and will try to suggest a disc with the least amount of space remaining that can still fit all of the restorations that have been imported in the job. This Intelligent Stock Selection helps you utilize previously used material before allocating a new disc for milling.

Multi-Shaded Material Visualization

Requires v2016 or later

With this feature, you are able to select, define, and visualize a multi-shaded blank.

Complete Machining (Kinematic) Simulation

Requires v2018 or later

With this feature, a complete kinematic simulation is available if defined in preliminary configuration. This useful tool helps you see the various machining operations before milling.

Mobile Notifications & Notification Sounds

Requires v2019 or later

MillBox can send mobile notifications when a milling machine changes its state. You can be notified when:

Machine Webcam Live View

Requires v2018 or later

This feature allows you to see a live view of the mill, using any webcam connected to your network or PC. The video feed will appear as a Picture-In-Picture image in the background of MillBox. This can be useful when you want to keep an eye on the milling process, but also want to continue nesting in the CAM.

Barcode Printing/Scanning

Requires v2019 or later

With this feature, MillBox can associate a unique code for every new blank the user creates. Upon blank creation, you can print a unique barcode label specific to the material and affix it directly to the side of the blank. As you are progressing through the workflow, you have the option to scan the barcode label (usin ga webcam or barcode scanner). When the code is scanned, MillBox will automatically import the corresponding blank, as long as it is present in the partially used stock library.

Additional Information on Project and Filter Function Available

Requires v2018 or later

With this feature, several pieces of project information are available under the quick project menu, such as: machine name, material, blank name, lot code, toolpath calculation.

It is also possible to filter files by inserting an object’s STL name or the name of a .blk file.

F9 Keyboard Shortcut Key (Cinematic Rotation of Fixture/Material)

Requires v2017 or later

With this feature you can press F9 on your keyboard to rotate the A axis. The zoom level and view orientation will not change.

Increase Priority on Second MillBox

Requires v2019 or later

When already calculating 1 job in the background – you can open a 2nd MillBox Instance and initiate a 2nd calculation to be carried out at the same time. This feature allows you to adjust your PC’s hardware priority at the time of the 2nd calculation to either share resources evenly with other instances (Standard) or to take priority (High) so it completes faster.

Move Multiple Restorations During Nesting

Requires v2020 or later

With this feature, you can multi-select and move parts simultaneously while nesting. Use Control+Click to multi-select the parts.

Reduce Cavity Axis Angle

Requires v2019 or later

This function allows you to reduce cavity axis. This is useful in several situations:

  • When removing one of 2 different cavity axis to mill a bridge in a 4 axis machine
  • When reducing the angle to finish a cavity with short tools.
  • Every time the customer changes the cavity axis angle the offset and the undercuts will be recalculated in order to help you easily find the best possible result.

Filter Jobs by Lot Code

Requires v2022 or later

With this feature you can filter jobs by lot code in the Job Filter function. All blanks in available jobs/projects will be included in this filtering process.

Support Pin Undercut Visualizations

Requires v2018  or later

Areas where support pins are connected will be rendered taking undercuts into account. If the support pin is raised above or below the equator, the user will see these surfaces visualized in blue shading.
